Carson, CA – Today, Bishop Juan Carlos Mendez, founder of Churches in Action and a leader of the Los Angeles Interfaith Council, endorsed Rep. Loretta Sanchez for the United States Senate and urged his supporters to join him in voting for her in this historic election.
“I’ve known Loretta for many years, I have worked alongside her and her family on community outreach to ensure California residents have the resources and information they need in times of emergency,” said Bishop Mendez. “As a national security expert, Loretta has worked with leaders around the world to build better relationships with our allies to better protect our country. I know Loretta will fight for working families and under-represented communities as United States Senator and I urge my colleagues, counterparts and supporters to all vote for Loretta Sanchez for United States Senate. She is the person that will best represent us.”
Pastor Juan Carlos Mendez is the Pastor of Centro Cristiano Los Angeles in Los Angeles, which offers services in both Spanish and English. Pastor Mendez began the Spanish ministry of the “Dream Center” formerly Bethel Temple Los Angeles in September 1989. He was trained and mentored by the well-known pastor, Dr. Rev. Harald Bredesen. Bishop Mendez and his staff have started 40 other churches with thousands of followers. He also heads the Annual Los Angeles Mayor's Inter-Faith Prayer Breakfast.
“Bishop Mendez is a pillar of the Southern California community and I am incredibly honored to have his support,” said Rep. Sanchez. “I have seen how our faith communities are on the front-line every day in our lives and especially when natural disasters hit. As Senator I will work hand-in-hand with Bishop Mendez and faith leaders to be a voice for the underserved community."
